There’s no better time to crack open a refreshingly chilled can of ale than on a blistering mid-summer afternoon! As International Beer Day rounds off the end of this week, let’s take a look at some local beermakers for inspiration – and potentially for a cold drink or two.
Left Field Brewery
Left Field Brewery has been with FreshFind since last year. They’re a small, community-minded brewery that brews a series of baseball-inspired full-flavoured beers. Located in the east Toronto Leslieville neighbourhood, the brewery makes a wide variety of styles including IPAs, sours, dark ales, crisp and easy-drinking ales and lagers, and hard seltzers. Greenwood
Greenwood is a bright, juicy nod to the hazy beers of the green mountain state and a tribute to their own neighbourhood of Leslieville. Mixing water, malted barley, oats, wheat, hopes, and Vermont ale yeast, Greenwood is a must-try for anyone craving strong citrus and peach flavours.
Ice Cold Beer 100% Ontario Ale
A cold beer is just what you need on a warm day! This refreshing all-natural craft ale is locally made with 100% Ontario ingredients. The Ice Cold Beer comes in a 4-pack or a 6-pack, so pass these around and share with friends and family!
Bang-Bang Dry Hopped Sour
Bang-Bang is a refreshing sour that pops with freshly sliced lemon, papaya, sour candy, tangerine and hints of pineapple from the Citra, Simcoe and Cascade dry hop. This beautiful can is packed with flavours, from tart to sweet.

Blood Brothers
Located at Dufferin and Dupont, this westwide brewery is run by brothers Dustin and Brayden Jones in the heart of Toronto’s industrial Geary avenue. Their bottle shop opens everyday from 11am-11pm, and their tap room opens from 12pm-11pm. If you’re looking to get a large case of beer delivered, they also do local deliveries on orders above $50 for a minimum flat rate of $10 on select days. To check out their full menu, click here!
Collective Arts Brewing
Collective Arts opened up their Toronto brewery in late 2020, and they’ve been a staple in the community ever since. Their storefront, at 777 Dundas Street West, is nestled in the Trinity-Bellwoods neighbourhood. Drop by between the hours of 11am-10pm to grab a drink or some merch! For their full menu, click here.

DIY Brewing
Want to try making your own alcoholic beverages? It sounds daunting, but the process of making a homebrew isn’t as challenging as you might think! The key to making a good homebrew is sanitization: clean everything. Or else, as many brewmakers will tell you, you might feel a little more sick than you bargained for.
All you’ll need is a fermenter, a large pot, grains, a grain sack to hold your grains while they steep, and an airlock to seal your fermenter when storing your alcohol. Different ingredients and tools produce different results, so it helps to do some research into what you might want to add to cart before you start the process.
